Another Skyline View

Sunday afternoon was spent with good friends and many cute kiddos watching the Phillies beat the Nationals. Which is a good thing when you’re there with 13 Phillies fans! I love how baseball games in Baltimore and DC are always just as full of the away team’s fans as they are of the home teams fans.

Riding the Metro is a much more pleasant experience than riding the T. The stations and trains are so much cleaner (and the stations are air conditioned!). And the alert system for arriving/approaching trains is so much more accurate. Are you taking notes, MBTA?!?!

Window Seat

When I fly into Reagan National Airport, I ALWAYS book a window seat on the left side of the plane. That’s because there’s a rule (law? ordinance? whatever…it’s how they do it) stating that planes flying into National have to fly directly over the Potomac river to cut down on airplane noise in the neighboring suburbs. If you’re super lucky, your plane will be approaching from the north and you, in your window seat on the left side of the plane, will get the awesome views of the city (Georgetown, National Cathedral, White House, the National Mall) that I got. If you’re even luckier, you’ll fly into National after sunset at the holidays and take this approach, and you’ll get to see the White House Christmas tree lit up and surrounded by each of the smaller state tress. It’s amazing. Seeing this city from the air never gets old or less awesome. And that’s why you always book a window seat on the left side of the plane when you’re flying into National.

Eastern Market

I walked down to the post office to mail home some of my gifts so I wouldn’t have to worry about security at the airport and browsed through Eastern Market on my way back to Pat and Becky’s. I guess it’s not really browsing since its all cheeses, meats, fish, and produce and I was really just walking through to walk through with no intention of buying anything. I wish I had been there over a weekend so I could have REALLY browsed all the craft vendors for something fun to buy!

Johnny Rockets

I had the same lunch two days in a row – Saturday at the airport in Boston and Sunday at Union Station in DC. I try to eat at Johnny Rockets at least once every time I’m in DC because it’s so easy and yummy and I love the juke boxes!
Random Sarah’s life trivia: Johnny Rockets was the last meal I had in Australia.
