Drawer Before (and After)

Have been (slowly but surely) working on the Apartment Therapy Spring Cure, and this weekend was focusing on the kitchen. I heart my clean, decluttered, organized drawers!

I have a prescription migraine medication that I take when I know a whopper is coming, but I try not to take it unless absolutely necessary. Between the heavy duty pain killer and the fact that it’s loaded with caffeine, I can’t take it on an empty stomach or I get really flakey and shakey – pretty dang loopy (I discovered that when my doctor prescribed it and I took it at work without having eaten breakfast – much to the amusement of my coworkers who got to witness the complete loopiness that ensued). I took a nap this afternoon and woke up with a pretty sudden headache and feeling nauseous, so I walked to the convenience store for some Coke and fresh air and took two of these when I came back. Another hour or so of napping and I woke up feeling completely human. I heart you, Excedrin Tension.

Yummy Yummy

I love this photo for two reasons:

1. I bought this yarn the other day, and I bought it because the second I touched it I knew I had to have it, and I knew I had to try making something totally cozy and lovely out of it. Once I get my butt in gear (need to finish up another project first), this will hopefully turn into a warm, cozy cowl. I’m almost afraid to start working with it because I’m not sure I’m a good enough hooker to do the yarn justice. I balled it the other day while watching a movie just because I can’t keep my hands off it. Feels like heaven, seriously.

2. I really love the green color of that pot in the background, and I love how great it looks in the back of my photos. Love love love. Also, that little hobbit jade is doing better than I expected it to.

I can make shit!

Holy crap! I actually made something! This little bowl?! Yeah, I made it.

I have phases when I want to be crafty, and I try crocheting something (usually a scarf, because I always thought that seemed like the easiest thing to make) and never finish. Not this weekend, folks! Lately the crafting urge has been out of control, and this weekend I spent a lot of time browsing crafting and crochet sites and blogs and finding patterns of things I’d like to make. I thought I should start with something simple, and I found the pattern for this bowl. It’s not perfect (not even close, actually), but it’s pretty dang cute and I love it. I felted it after I made it, although just barely because that’s something that may be just beyond my crafting skills. At least for now!

Now I just need to decide what to do with the bowl!

Long overdue! I backed up, erased, and reformatted my hard drive today. Don’t those candles burning in the background make for pretty bokeh?
