Not from today

6 weeks – 12 weeks – 20 weeks – 25 weeks – 29 weeks

I just sat down to edit the photos I took of Leyre on Sunday and put this together. FUN! Check it out large on black here.

10 on Tuesday

1. I got a customer sat survey from Starbucks the other day when I was there, and you get a free beverage if you take the survey and write the little code it gives you on your receipt. I redeemed that today, and I think my chai tasted better because it was free.

2. I did 3 loads of laundry last night. I also threw out a number of socks that were holey, and put in a bag a number of clothing pieces that I haven’t worn in years or don’t need (seriously, how many pairs of pajama pants does a person need?!). If I can do a load of sheets and towels and a load of delicates tonight, I think that will get rid of every. single. pile. of (my) clothes that have been littering the bedroom for weeks. It is AMAZING how much nicer the bedroom is without piles of clothing everywhere. For the record, Pete is not the offender here, it’s entirely me.

3. Some of you know that I’ve been working on the Apartment Therapy Home Cure, and so have been chipping away at cleaning, decluttering, and making some overall improvements around the house. I get so excited every time I finish something that it catapults me into the next something, and I’m loving it! Over the weekend I: removed the bookshelf from the top of the stairs, replaced it with the bookshelf that was beside the front door, hung a shelf next to the door where the bookshelf used to be (to be joined by hooks for my purses), replaced the kitchen light fixture (lead to cleaning the counters – a well lit kitchen makes it harder to ignore a not clean kitchen!), tightened the wobbly legs on the coffee table (lead to dusting and decluttering the shelf underneath…goodbye 200+ CDs I haven’t touched in years, goodbye puzzle that has been in progress for four years!), and cut out paper in the shape of the frames to be hung on the wall above Pete’s desk and tested out arrangements. I can’t wait to get more done this weekend. Eventually, our apartment will not look like a slob (that’s me, not Pete) lives there.

4. Speaking of this weekend, the lovely Ros will be in town from Melbourne, and I’m very excited about that. And not because she’s restocking my Caramello Koala and Violet Crumble stash, but because it’s been a year since she moved back home, I don’t know when I’ll see her again, and I miss her!

5. I bought a new pillow over the weekend, and it’s made for some very good nights’ sleep. Note to self: buying the $7 pillows from Target is not worth it, spring for the $25 pillows at Ikea.

6. I posted a training walk for this Saturday morning – 8 AM on the Charles…the loops is 7.5 miles but can be shortened to 6, 4.5, or 2 miles. If you’re local and interested in joining shoot me an email and I’ll get you the info. You don’t have to be walking the 3 Day to join us, you just have to be over 16 and sign a liability waiver. But you should walk the 3 Day, too…

7. Pete and I watched Quantum Solace on Sunday night, and it wasn’t that good. Maybe Bond movies need to be seen in the theater since the action is really the highlight?

8. I have pictures from the weekend to post here, but I haven’t edited them yet. Hopefully I’ll catch up this weekend. I’m also posting this without a photo because I didn’t take any pictures today and I’m curled up on the couch under a blanket, too comfy to get up now.

9. Anyone else think the drama on Biggest Loser is kicking up to a ridiculous notch? Yeah, I could live without it. Wallaby, wanna watch with me next week? I’ll make choco chip cookies for our dose of unhealthy.

10. Baseball season is in full swing (ha!) at our house – Pete has subscribed to MLB TV and has had his second monitor playing baseball games for the last two nights. Unfortunately they black out games that you can watch locally, which means audio only for Red Sox games. Better than the crappy reception from the radio we used to listen on.

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thankful Thursday! Today’s thankful Thursday has nothing to do with this photo…

Today I’m thankful for healthy babies (not mine, in case you’re new around here)!! Our friends Jason and Alisa are new parents to Genevieve, who was born yesterday after 16 unsuccessful hours of labor and a c-section (yowzah! Also thankful for healthy moms, everyone is doing okay). Genevieve was 8.1 lbs and 21 inches. Welcome to the world, little girl! We can’t wait to meet you when we visit in July!

The photo, in case you’re wondering, was the view I got walking across the bridge this morning on my way to work. I’m so in love with our neighborhood. I love walking over the bridge every day on my way to and from work and seeing how the river looks today – the constantly changing water level (tidal) makes for really awesome rockscapes. Recently, a pair of Canada Geese have shown up and today it looks like she’s sitting on a nest – hopefully with better outcome than the one we saw last year, which was abandoned with unhatched eggs left behind.

10 on Tuesday

1. Shout out! I’m so excited to see that Swifty has started posting his 10 on Tuesday – thanks for joining my, Swifty! And no wonder we’re friends, because I kept reading his and being like “that’s so awesome…I totally agree…yup, right on….”

2. Tonight while walking with Pete, I learned a lot about baseball stats (and fantasy baseball). I’m pretty sure that if Dad takes up fantasy baseball, he could make a lot of money. Potentially more than consulting in Kyrgyzstan, and with a lot less flying and foreign food.

3. I posted my first official 3 Day training walk for this Saturday, and hopefully I get a decent turnout. Really, if anyone shows up I’ll be happy. It’s a short one – 4 miles (with Starbucks halfway, yum!) – and hopefully that doesn’t deter people. Also, if you’re local and want to join us I can email you details. Friends and family are welcome as long as you’re willing to sign the liability waiver!

4. My toes are cold.

5. We are officially out of Girl Scout cookies. The booth sales are few and far between these days, so hopefully I can get my hands on some more before they’re gone again for the year. How much money is too much money to spend on Girl Scout cookies over the course of a year? I read in the elevator that their cookie sales were being affected by the economy, so I’m trying to do my part to help them out.

6. I just realized that some people probably don’t know what I’m talking about when I say “I read in the elevator…”. We have those handy screens that have news headlines and current event blurbs and lots of random info. It’s probably my main source of news most days. Non-local news, at least.

7. Sarah B shared this video recently, and it’s pretty mind blowing. Volume not needed, sfw, and all that crap:

8. I bought a new bath mat (so that it actually matches the shower curtain now), and it’s super soft. It makes getting out of the warm shower less horrible in the mornings. It also, apparently, makes a nice place for a napping Champ.

9. March Madness has fully invaded our house (Pete’s bracket was busted last weekend, if you care)…I came home from work tonight and Pete was playing basketball with his Nerf ball and hoop. And then he knocked over a glass of water on the coffee table. Lucky for him, the Tivo remote survived the flood.

10. I’ve been working on cleaning, decluttering, organizing, and prettifying the house since we decided to stay another year. This includes addressing the funky shaped wall that I’ve ignored and left blank for the last two years. I started gathering a few things to add to what we already had to hang a gallery style wall, kinda like this. The first one that I ordered came today, and that’s the picture you saw before you started reading this post (ten hours ago). One more print is on it’s way and then it’s time to figure out how I want to arrange them on the wall and start hanging them. And maybe buy one more piece, depending on space.

Dancy Pants!

Dude! Leyre made me these pants. I heart them. She used my old duvet cover to make them. I found these two pictures online and checked out her blog post and then mentioned it in an email to Leyre, who just happened to have the book the pattern was from…and I just happened to have my old duvet cover that I had saved because I loved the patterns and figured I should be able to use it for something.

I wish I could wear them to work.
